"Knife making is a journey of small wins. Learn to file. Learn to drill a decent hole. Learn to sand a plunge line. Learn to heat treat a particular kind of steel. Small win after small win. Pretty soon it adds up and you’ve really got something. That’s how you learn. Not only is it nothing to be ashamed of…it’s actually the way learning is supposed to work!

It takes time for the craft to settle into your bones. If you could learn it all in five minutes, it wouldn’t be interesting to do in the first place.
